TAGA Chairperson, Ms. Claudia CHEN, was elected as the 4th Chairperson of APAGA
In the midst of Hong Kong Art Week, TAGA organized the physical “2024 APAGA & Appraisal Practice Forum - HK Session” on March 29th, 2024 at the Library Room, the Mezzanine Level, GARND HYATT HONG KONG, focusing on the theme of “Artist Asset Donation and Taxation in the Asia Pacific” and discussing the taxation system related to artworks in each member region and the election of the 4th APAGA Chairperson (term 2024-2026).
Participating member regions are Art Galleries Association Singapore, Hong Kong Art Gallery Association, Contemporary Art Dealers Association Nippon (attending on behalf of Japan Art Dealers Association). The Galleries Association of Korea and the Art Galleries Association Indonesia were unable to attend the forum, but after the members present agreed to hold an election, Ms. Claudia CHEN, the Chairperson of TAGA, was elected as the Chairperson of the 4th APAGA by a unanimous vote.
During the forum, members shared the latest tax system for importing and trading artworks in the region, and also paid attention to the “tax policy for donating artworks”, and found that there are many cases of donation by family members of artists and collectors in the Asia-Pacific region, such as Hong Kong and Taiwan. At the same time, APAGA will link up the offline and online activities among the gallery associations in the Asia-Pacific region, so that there can be more exchanges and interactions among the galleries of APAGA members and increase the vitality of the market.
This year, APAGA will continue to discuss the topic of art assets, create Asia-Pacific exchanges, and promote corporate art collections through the Cultural Act, using artworks as asset planning, tax-saving concepts, family heritage, and expanding the value of the Asia-Pacific art market.
